  • Fortune Favors the Brave this 2022

Rockwell kicks off 2022 by celebrating traditions that afford the community ways to connect meaningfully and gleefully. First up: the Chinese New Year Festivities. It’s the Year of the Water Tiger, one that’s known for its fluidity and flexibility. Rockwell will mark this new beginning with retail patrons, within the safe confines of their homes, or at Rockwell’s malls.

From January 28 to February 1, 2022, Power Plant Mall’s annual traditions such as the highly-anticipated Spring Festival Fair will be back at the South Court, R1 Level.  Heart Factory Accessories, Touch of Craft, and Paul Raymond Studio will showcase their uniquely crafted gifting items, lucky charms and crystals. Chinese delicacies from Polland Hopia will also be available at the fair.

The Chinese New Year wouldn’t be complete without fabulous dining. Shoppers can celebrate at 8 Treasures, located at the P1 Level in Power Plant Mall and the G/F of Santolan Town Plaza, and try out their delectable roast platters.

To boost the positive energy for the year, more crystal companions can be found at Accessory Lab, at the R2 Level.

The Rockwell community in San Juan are in for exciting treats. Santolan Town Plaza continues its Rockwellist Tote promo for purchases until January 31, 2022. Those who spend at least 5,000.00 from February 1 to 6, 2022 will get a chance to win angpao surprises. Arton Strip, Rockwell’s newest retail property in Katipunan, also has prizes in store for their regulars.

Customers can look forward to a year filled with fortune. They can welcome the year with special jade plants available at The Fruit Stand by Rockwell at the P1 Level, and on shop.TheRockwellist.com. Shopping safely from home is made possible, as assorted gift sets from Kee Wah Bakery are available on the site. These can also be purchased via Rockwell On Demand, Rockwell’s buying assistance service.

  • Power Plant Mall safely welcomes patrons back to the cinemas with Dune screening

The much-anticipated Power Plant Cinemas finally opened on November 10, 2021, after a year and a half of waiting. Cinemagoers got to experience Dune, a science fiction masterpiece, on the big screen.

Members of the press and Rockwell clients were invited to the 7:30 PM screening of Dune, at the VIP Cinema 8 of Power Plant Mall. They were very excited to finally watch, after the highly awaited reopening of the cinemas. To complete the experience, they were given Power Plant Cinema popcorn as an after-movie treat. These can also be purchased at the Plaza Driveway (across the mall entrance near Zara).

Other movie enthusiasts can also look forward to more exciting titles such as No Time To Die, Marvel Studios’ Eternals, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, to name a few.

For customers’ peace of mind, Rockwell has taken on protocols to ensure everyone’s safety. Seating is at 40% capacity, with a 1.2-meter lateral distance between customers, and a 2.2-meter gap from those in front and at the back. Minors and only fully-vaccinated adults will be allowed to watch. Tickets can be booked online at powerplantcinema.com, with contactless payment solutions being highly encouraged. Contact tracing measures are in place, and a health declaration is done through scanning the U Make Makati Safe QR code at the entrance.

To further guarantee the health and safety of customers, there’s a one-hour interval between each screening for thorough disinfection, through UV light and misting machines. Fresh air supply with an air change rate that is above the ASHRAE standards is circulated in all cinemas. Power Plant Cinema has recently been awarded a Safety Seal, certifying that the appropriate protocols are in place in preparation for the return of movie theaters.

Those who prefer a safer and more intimate viewing experience with their friends and families can privately enjoy the movies through block screenings. Cinemagoers can easily avail of this at Power Plant Mall, and also at Santolan Town Plaza, Rockwell’s retail property in San Juan.

For more updates on the reopening of cinemas at Rockwell, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages.

  • Power Plant Mall Receives Safety Seal, Keeping Your Shopping Experience Worry-Free

Your trip to Power Plant Mall has never been safer. The Safety Seal, formally received on June 28, 2021, is the assurance you need. Present to grant Power Plant Mall the certification are Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Congressman Luis Campos Jr., 2nd District of Makati, Atty. Maribert Pagente, Makati BPLO Head, Atty. Cherry Canda-Melodias, DILG-Makati Director, Atty. Ann Claire Cabochan, Assistant Secretary for Consumer Protection Group, DTI, and P/Col. Harold Depositar, Makati City Chief of Police.

Power Plant Mall Safety Seal Certification Ceremony (L-R) Tracey Castillo, Assistant Vice President for Residential and Retail Development of Rockwell Land Corp., P/Col. Harold Depositar, Tin Coqueiro, Vice President for Retail Development of Rockwell Land Corp. and General Manager of Power Plant Mall, Atty. Maribert Pagente, Nestor Padilla, President and CEO of Rockwell Land Corp., Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Congressman Luis Campos Jr., Atty. Ann Claire Cabochan, and Atty. Cherry Canda-Melodias.

The certification program is an inter-agency initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Health (DOH), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) that awards establishments for compliance with public health standards. The seal is proof of Rockwell’s relentless efforts to protect its mall-goers since the start of the pandemic: the contactless thermal scanners; the ubiquitous automatic hand sanitizer dispensers; UV-sterilized escalator handrails; and a convenient online contact-tracing platform called HealthBadge

To further keep the mall safe, Rockwell has started to vaccinate its tenants, security and housekeeping personnel, and service partners, in partnership with the Makati LGU. This is in line with the government’s pursuit to push for the vaccination of the A4 category, or frontliners in the essential sector. That indeed is another significant safety milestone.

“We at Rockwell have always strived to provide a safe and secure shopping experience for our customers. We are most grateful to Mayor Abby Binay and the Makati City Government for helping us make this possible by granting us the Safety Seal and vaccinating all our tenants and service partners. With this, we hope to give our shoppers a worry-free time at Power Plant Mall,” says Power Plant Mall General Manager, Tin Coqueiro.

You may now sit down for a meal comfortably and confidently at Rockwell’s outdoor dining destinations at the Lopez Drive, One Rockwell, and the Plaza Driveway. Social-distancing is the norm at the al fresco areas, which are also kept constantly clean.

As a way of saying ‘thank you’ to vaccinated mall visitors who are helping keep everyone safe, Power Plant Mall and its tenants are rewarding them with exciting discounts and free desserts at selected stores and restaurants.

A secure and pleasurable shopping experience remains a Rockwell promise to its customers. The Safety Seal validates that promise.

  • ArteFino celebrates Filipino artistry with new virtual collection on shop.TheRockwellist.com

In times of crises, every little thing counts. ArteFino does just that, by providing Filipino craftsmen with an avenue for creativity. The ArteFino fairs in Rockwell had been well-received by their patrons in the past. This year, they’re bringing something novel yet familiar to the Rockwell market with “Summer Escape” — an exclusive virtual collection of artisanal craft on shop.TheRockwellist.com, Power Plant Mall’s e-commerce website.

According to Cedie Vargas, co-founder of ArteFino together with Marimel Francisco, Maritess Pineda, Mita Rufino and Susie Quiros, the digital pop-up with Rockwell “encompasses and brings forth what ArteFino is all about. We’re responding to what’s relevant to the times. We’re bringing more focus to community livelihood, social enterprise, and promoting what speaks to the consumer in terms of environmental and mindful sustainability.”

In these challenging times, this collaboration recognizes the need amongst local craftsmen to continue to have a venue to offer their wares. Rockwell’s online shopping platform is both a timely response, and an ideal portal for ArteFino’s audience, providing a unique retail experience.

Summer Escape is unique for its first-ever online capsule collection, curated by ArteFino. It houses different homegrown brands such as halohalo, Art of Gold, Rags2Riches, and more. The exclusive collection features not just fashion and home accessories, but also everyday essentials which are ideal for any occasion.

Just take a look at this four-way top by Rags2Riches. Kantarines is an indigenous textile from their partner loom weavers in Abra. The garment is then sewn in-house at their workshop. It has a button down closure, and reversible panels that enable this versatile top to be worn in different configurations.

Fashion meets function in Lokal’s denim and inabel woven hand-painted lightweight masks, with water repellent lining, an ear adjuster, and a nose pincher — keeping you protected without compromising style.

Halohalo’s small palengke bag is the carry-all you’ve been looking for, whether for shopping or running quick errands. It comes with a long adjustable crossbody strap and handle straps for full flexibility. Discover more of these unique finds at shop.TheRockwellist.com. Customers can also check out some of their artisanal creations at Power Plant Mall at the R1 Level, near MAC Cosmetics.

This year may have taken a different turn for everyone, with almost everything transitioning to online. “Since ArteFino had to go full on digital this year, we needed to shift the sensibility and aesthetics of the Filipino contemporary lifestyle to bring the market a pared down sensibility, in keeping with the prevailing mood and times,” expresses Cedie. “Artisanal and social entrepreneurship will remain at its core.”
