    The Balmori Chef’s Table at Rockwell introduces a fresh and exciting addition to its lineup: La Chinesca, the innovative venture of California-raised chef Bruce Ricketts. From June 22nd to July 21st, diners can indulge in Ricketts’ Latin-Asian creations in an elegant and intimate setting, more subdued than its familiar origins at The Grid Food Market. The experience promises playful presentations, inventive flavor combinations, and a focus on communal dining.

    Ricketts’ culinary journey is as remarkable as his dishes. At the age of 27, he began his career as a dishwasher and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the Philippines’ most celebrated chefs. His first triumph, Sensei Sushi, paved the way for Mecha Uma, an acclaimed omakase-style restaurant. Now, with La Chinesca, Ricketts marries his passion for Mexican cuisine with his expertise in Asian flavors, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career.  The menu showcases a fusion of Filipino and Mexican flavors, highlighting locally sourced ingredients and Ricketts’ meticulous techniques.

  • Grand Opening of UCC Cafe Terrace, Mitsuyado Sei-Men, and CoCo Ichibanya at The Pavilions at Nara

    Bacolod City, Philippines — Mugen Group, the company that brought Japan’s leading casual dining chains in the country, held the grand opening of three of its top restaurants: UCC Cafe Terrace, Mitsuyado Sei-Men, and CoCo Ichibanya at The Pavilions at Nara on May 23. It was an exciting morning for residents and food enthusiasts alike, at the newest retail destination at Nara Residences by Rockwell located at GM Cordova Avenue in Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

    Bacolod’s top government officials led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and Rockwell Land Corporation executives led by its Chairman and CEO Nestor Padilla joined Mugen Group President & CEO Hubert U. Young, in celebrating the landmark opening of the new restaurants.

    “The opening of the latest branches of UCC Cafe Terrace, Mitsuyado Sei-Men and CoCo Ichibanya is a testament to the hard work of our team and the loyalty of our customers who have embraced our menu and dining experience. We look forward to serving even more communities and continuing to provide a place where people can enjoy great coffee and delightful dishes,” Young said. 

    Mayor Benitez, Mr. Young, and Mr. Padilla along with Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang, and Rockwell Land SVP for Rockwell Bacolod, Ms. Malou Pineda, cut the ceremonial ribbon signaling the opening of the restaurants.

    Following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, guests were treated to a tour of the restaurants so they could immerse themselves in their ambiance and distinct offerings. Throughout the day, the lively performances of Masskara Dancers along with the rhythm of drummers added a festive flair to the celebrations.

    The UCC Cafe concepts, which include UCC Cafe Terrace, is known for its curated retail cafe establishments that offer high-quality coffee and all-day dining.
